trip report

We arrived on time only to find out that East Midlands closed half an hour after we left so we were very lucky all the passengers waiting to return to the UK were being bussed back to the hotels. e stayed at the Victor Exotica which was very nice it was all inclusive and the food was good and plentiful but to be honest in Goa you only need B and B as the food is so cheap and eating out there is an experience, We didn't do too much as John had been poorly before we went away and had just started taking Warfarin so had to take it easy, We ate at a few beach shacks both at lunch and in the evening and can recomend Ganesh, Shams and Bobbys as good value and very welcoming.

e got a taxi one day and asked him to take us to a nice beach and he took us to Dunes resort Mandrem beach this was paradise so we booked to stay for 2 nights in a beach shack later in the week the same driver took us was stayed in a shack which had a ceiling fan, mossie net and hot and cold shower but the highlight was the lovely beach and the lovely cooling breeze the restrant overlooked the beach and the food was so good and really cheap we ate and drank for a full day including water and drinks brought to our sunbeds on the beach for 1175rps about £17 for the 2 of us. we also went to the night market twice we didn't really buy much but the atmosphere was amazing we sat and had a drink and people watched. The dancing cow came to our hotel and was funny. The people in Goa are very welcoming and always smiling they go out of thier way to help you and ask for very little in return. We used local buses to go to Calangute then walked back and stopped at different bars for drinks on the way and we went to the Pheonix Park hotel to have a look as we have booked to stay there next year in April and now I just can't wait. Well its back to work tommorrow all good things must come to an end. Our son and his family would like to go with us next year so we would like to know if there are any companys that do reductions for children aged 4 and 8 well thats it til next year I would like to say a big thankyou to all who gave us some usefull tips and advise before we went oh and by the way Odomos worked really well for us not ! bite!!!!!

Were you there 15th to 29th with you saying East Midlands closed just after you left ?

yes we flew at 02.35 15th april we believe the airpot closed about half an hour later. First Choice called a meeting for those passengers who wanted to speak to someone at the Pheonix Park and it was our stranded pilot and the crew he said he saw what he thought was some unusual low cloud over scotland but by the time he was notified by control he had already passed it so continued lucky or what!! we have already booked for 1st April 2011 staying Pheonix park can't wait

We were on the same flight, and didn't hear about the volcano ash until recieving a txt from my daughter after switching phone on on arrival, we very very lucky A - to go on our holiday ( and get there safely ) and B - to come home on time on our scheduled flight. We were all very lucky and very fortunate. Never heard about the first choice meeting, in fact we only saw a rep once on the first day, but hey ho all well that ends well.

I haven't booked yet, but are looking at next Feb as it was a bit too hot for us in April.
