a place for 3 to 4 weeks.

My wife and I, both early sixties, want to spend late Jan/early Feb 2010 in Goa. We were in Colva on a package a few years back and liked it. I was first in Colva back in mid seventies and much had changed.

We don't want to go on a package as they are too expensive for us.

Can anyone recommend a good place to stay. Of couirse, we would like it clean etc.

We were thinking of doing something like a self catering sort of thing but I have no idea if those exist.

Any info and help would be appreciated to kick us off so to speak.

regards, Pete

There are loads of private apartments to let, well certainly in North Goa. Thoroughly recommend Angelas Guest House in Candolim, lovely apartments at very reasonable prices.

Only thing I would say is that I doubt you will find things much cheaper than booking a package holiday. We much prefer the self catering lifestyle rather than a hotel. Whatever you choose have a fantastic holiday

Have to disagree with you roxys mum....

If you can get a flight at a reasonable cost you can get a guesthouse for around £10 a night with A/C.

We have saved £400 each this Christmas going flight only....

If you google Apartments to rent in goa there will be loads of websites for you to look at and that would give you an idea of what is on offer. we are doing the same this year going in december and coming home in january, staying in the south.Hope this helps. Gel

We will be flying out on Sunday and have booked our own accommodation. We have used two web sites on numerous occasions, one being Owners Direct and the other, Holiday Lettings. You chose the location, number of bedrooms etc and you see a photo plus price on the front page. If you see an interesting property, simply click on to it and you will find indepth photos, info, price breakdown etc.

We are staying in Varca, South Goa and as part of the price of the accommodation, we get picked up and dropped at the airport. With booking flights and accommodation separately, working out about £650 each. We believe we are getting a better standard of accommodation than if we had booked a package for the same price.

Hope this helps.

Mnay thanks for that.

We will probably fly to Bombay and then take the train for a bit of the 'Indian' experience. I first stayed in Colva in 1976! Pig toilets and all!

Dirt cheap in those days.

Anyway, I will search around for something reasonable.

Thanks a lot, Pete
