Goa to TajMahal with Footprints travel agency?Advice please!

I have been in touch with Footprints travel agency in Goa by e-mail

regarding their 3 day/2 night trip, one night Delhi & one night in Agra

in November 2007.

They have quoted £260 to £280 but prices not finalised yet.

They have given us 4 hotels to choose from, In Delhi, The Hotel Marina & The Avalon Court Yard. In Agra Hotel Pushp Villa & The Imperial Palace.

The Hotel Marina & Hotel Pushp Villa have been given terrible reviews in Tripadvisor, so we won't be going there.

I cannot find the other 2 on Tripadvisor at all.

Can anyone advise on these hotels or hotels that would be suitable

that we could ask for?

Another point is that the itineray is being driven from Delhi to Agra, I have already been in touch to ask about travelling by train.

What would experienced travellers suggest?

Do the trip yourself!

We did in Dec06 & booked everything on internet -

spicejet to Delhi - spicejet.com

hotel in Delhi - one night (flight arrives 1800) - hotels.com

we stayed at Qutab but cheaper are available.

train to Agra return - indiarail.gov.in (leave plenty of time!!!!)

hotel Agra - Taj View (2 nights B&B) with Taj view room

Cost £350 each

Any further info please ask.

Its really easy !!

I spent a few nights in Avalon Courtyard a few months ago. Definitely very clean and safe, very basic in its facilities. Courteous staff, spacious room with all facilities. They are service-apartments, so one could imagine living there for a few weeks, in an environment which is a bit closed off from the outside hussle and bustle. No fancy restaurant or bar, but breakfast is provided.

Hi..i just back from India yesterday.

I took package from travel agent in Indonesia, and stayed on Avalon Court Yard hotel. It's a clean hotel with quite good breakfast, but the location is very terrible..it's in middle of nowhere. If you will not have anymore activities after the sightseeing, it's a good hotel to sleep in, but if you want to walk around or see the delhi's nightlife, you'll have to take a taxi, and you have to ask the hotel staff to call them (coz no taxis around). I suggest you take hotel in another area (ex. connaught place), you'll get a better one with the same price.

Pls contact me again if you need more information.

cheers

Hi

I organised a trip myself, as I wasn't prepared to pay single supplements.

Spice Jet to Delhi was £35 return

I stayed at Hotel Godwin Deluxe in Delhi, basic but did the job - £18 per night.

I hired a taxi to Agra - about £40.

Taj was 970 rupees for a westerner.

It's a lot cheaper if you do it yourself.

Organising the trip independently meant I could do what I wanted, when I wanted. I also felt like a seasoned traveller, and very brave!
