Taking the NYC to AC Bus 2018

Its been a total headache trying to figure out how to get from NYC to AC by bus that I thought I should share my findings.

Academy bus: it no longer runs to AC

Greyhound: they have a casino deal but there is no information on their website that is of any help (I called and tried the web chat: also no help). The website says to order a ticket with the casino as the destination instead of AC. I did this, it was $49 rt and the casino refused to give me a casino voucher on arrival ($25 slot play). The casino bus attendant explained that you need to order tickets in cash at the terminal in order to get the voucher. Amazingly the casino knew more than the bus company. it's first come first serve and $45 I believe.

You can get the times from the greyhound website by plugging in the casino as your destination. do not book online though if you want the free slot play.

Chinatown bus: there's a Chinatown bus with a regular schedule serving ballys Caesars and harrahs. they have a small desk at the casino terminal. I haven't taken it yet, but was told it's $27 RT with a $25 slot voucher and $50 match play for table games.

this picks up from Confucius plaza (9 chatham sq.) in Manhattan as well as a location in flushing and Brooklyn. The name is in Chinese so I don't what the company is, but their number is 212-966-8433

buses depart Chinatown at:

9am

10:15am

11:30am

12:30pm

3pm

6:15pm

8:30pm

11:15pm

1am

Both greyhound and Chinatown buses have an open return, so you can take any bus back. Also since they are first come first serve, its best to arrive early to avoid it selling out.

We used to take Academy, until they bailed out.

Then we went to Greyhound. You can buy the tix at the main counter or a kiosk. You must print iit out at Port Authority, if you reserve on line, to get the last page with the casino voucher. The price is about $35 r/t. Do not buy the tix at the gate (80). We were charged $45 there. There has been so many problems lately, with buses late, buses not showing at all, drivers not showing or buses breaking down. And you are absolutely right...no one knows anything at Greyhound.

Last trip we tried NJ transit. There is no casino coupon. The bus goes to the AC bus terminal, which is a short walk to Bally’s/Caesar’s, or a jitney ride to the others. Do we miss getting the $25 bonus? Yes. But in exchange you get clean, reliable service that you can depend on. No crowds, no waiting in long lines...hoping to get on, should the bus actually arrive. The bus is #319, schedule on website.

I would not do the Chinese bus. They have a terrible safety record.

Hope this helps. I

We take NJ Transit from the Port Authority. It goes to the AC bus terminal, so no casino voucher.

It’s clean, ontime, and dependable, runs about every hour.Website has schedule; bus #319.

The Chinese buses do not have a good safety record. I would stay away from them.

Jared R ~ Thanks for your useful update. I've seen that Chinatown bus desk. I've also been told similar to restaurants in Chinatown, you can get even better deals if you can speak their dialect. The safety bus records have improved lately since some accidents thanks to increased government regulation and examination.

We always take the #319 as well, they make great time, they have restrooms and don't require lining up an hour ahead like the Greyhound buses do.

I didn't know about that nj transit option. how much is the 319 bus?

Another note about greyhound: get the bus from the casino when heading back! It only stops at the AC bus terminal after picking up at the casinos first, so it often arrives full.

Jared.

We get the senior citizen pricing at $17.45. Not sure what regular fare is. Check the NJ Transit website.

They have schedules, pricing, etc.

BTW they leave from gate 319. Easy to get to and not super crowded.

There is plenty of casino information on the Greyhound website here... https:/…lucky-streak

If you buy your ticket online, do not select the ‘print at home’ option - you will not get the casino bonus with this option. Do select the ‘will call (pick up at station)’ option, and print your ticket at the kiosk at the bus terminal, this will also print your $25 bonus coupon. Otherwise, buy your ticket at the bus terminal and you will also get your bonus coupon.

Its 25 slot voucher, 25 table free bet (worth 12.50 cash) the 25 table bet: win. they take your voucher, and you get 25 bucks. lose, they take your voucher. same as 12.50 cash.

Thank you so much for this information. I have been looking for two hours trying to find bus rides down to AC without spending $40. I did not know that many bus company stop going to AC. I needed to go to Atlantic City today which is a Sunday and of course none of the companies answer the phone. Tried calling AC hotels but I guess today is "National Put A Stupid Person On The Phone" Day. Anyway, thank you again!
