TR part 1

A 2 night trip July 31-August 2. First let me say that we have never been to AC during the summer, not liking crowds. And we are NOT sun/beach people. DH is from Sweden. He is so fair that he can get a sunburn at night.haha. I just don’t like hot, humid. Off season suits us. But looking for a break and wanting to check out Hard Rock, so off we go.

Part 1 is about our bus trip from NYC to AC, so you can skip to part 2, if you drive. We started taking Greyhound after Academy bailed out. At first it was fine, lots of options, but the last few trips started going from bad to worse. Late buses, buses that never showed. Then the day before we left, the news ran a story about people being stranded at the Port Authority overnight. No Greyhound drivers. We decided we had had enough and would try NJ Transit. Wow! Night and day. No crowds, on time, clean buses. You don’t get the $25 casino bonus and you go to the bus station, but overall it was just so nice not to worry if you were going to get to AC or get home. We got our tickets, went to the gate early, but no one got on line until about 15 minutes before departure. Bus showed up, we board, not crowded, leave exactly on time. What a concept! Something that works. OK, it was only one trip, but hopefully that is how it works.

Part 2 Resorts

The bus got us to AC by 10:30. A quick walk to Caesar’s/Bally’s; played there for a while and then took the jitney to Resorts. (We buy a book of 10 jitney tickets for $7.50, so $.75 a ride...good value). We were able to check in just after noon, Rendezvous tower. It was nice to unpack, unwind, take a quick shower and relax before heading down to do some serious gambling. Double tier points today. Some nice hits. Those dragon guys gave us a $75 line hit on minumum bet. Ended the day down some, but with 14 points.

Part 3. Hard Rock

Wednesday. Up early and killing time before the short walk to Hard Rock. Played with a $10 investment and cashed out an hour later with $40.

Got to HR and was able to do the upgrade. Not sure when they opened but we were there at about 8:45. No lines. Quick and easy.

Free play was nice to us. Cashed out up $105. All of the cabinets are new, but some house old favorites, like Miss Kitty, stinkin rich, mr. cashman. One we really liked was a combo of Konami games. Without changing seats you could go from one game to another on the same machine. So if you’re tired of Chili, Chili you can move on to the Geat Moai.

More later.

Thanks for sharing this interesting report. What card did you use for the HR upgrade & what level did they give you there?

I used my copper card from Tropicana. Easy. Upgraded to Elite. $50 free play, one comp room (mid week), good for 90 days, one buffet, and two comedy club tickets.

Nice ~ did you try their buffet which has been getting mixed start up reviews?

It's often been said if any new casino wants to make it in AC in recent years, all they need to do is just do a little better than what Borgata does—but none seem able to do that seriously.😕🥂🍽

HR continued

We tried the lunch buffet. It opens at 11, so it was really brunch. There was no line. Just walked right in.

All the offerings listed on the site were there. DH was in heaven; lox, smoked whitefish, poached salmon. He’s Swedish, remember. They eat fish for breakfast! I ate fruit, some chinese, a little of this and that. I’m a grazer. Spent most of my time at the dessert bar. I eat chocolate cake for breakfast. So we were both happy.

After that we played some more and decided to order an “after dinner” cocktail, but ended up moving to another machine. No problem. They knew where to find us. Kind of scary, if you think about it.

I have to say, everyone was so helpful and nice. It was a pleasure. The place is gorgeous. Lots of rock stuff all over. Can’t wait to go back.

Oh, and I got the T shirt. If you play for an hour, you get an official HR tee. (The price tag on it says $25.50!). It is very nice,

Ezyd. We both thought everything was tasty. Lots of choices available. At $20/person, you can really get your moneys worth.

Wow ~ Thanks again for the informative responses. Glad to read you enjoyed the midday buffet. Who were the "Kind of scary" . . . ."They knew where to find us"?

Oh, sorry, I wasn’t clear. The server with the drink knew we had changed machines and brought it to our new location, which was nice, but shows how you are being tracked all the time.

Yes, it can feel spooky when you first realize you are being watched these days—and so often not only in casinos😮👽😱
