Medellin, staying in town or near airport and touring?

We have 3 nights to spend in Medellin. First off, what are the best sites or tours in the area you would recommend, we like outdoors and activity. Also, is there anything near the airport worth visiting and worth a stay for our last night in the area. We are flying to Cartegena early in the morning and wondered if there is anything near the airport for dining and touring. Thank you for your insights.

Santa Elena and San Antonio de Periera are near to the airport.

In Santa Elena, it is more about being in quiet surroundings in the mountains. There is a hobbit hotel there which is great; and near to there, you also have the Parque Arvia a bit further aling with Nature Walks and the like.

In Medellin you can take the Turibus to the tourist sites in the city. You could also do a day trip; Guatape and El Penol as you like the outdoors and touring.
