10 days in St Wolfgang

We, a party of 4, are spending 10 days in St Wolfgang.

Can you recommend day trips to nearby attractions.

We are independent travellers of mature age and like to be on the go every day.

What time of the year?

Car or public transport?

On the go. Does that include walks of up to 8 miles?

May = Great time to visit Austria. Spring flowers and snow melt in the rivers/lakes.

Public Transport = No issues, transport is great.

From Wolfgang

Boat to Strobl or St Gilgen explore and go walking.

Boat strait across lake then walk to Strobl down the old railway line. Very scenic.

Boat strait across lake then walk to St Gilgen (Follows main road most of the way).

Or walk to Strobl from Wolfgang (First part follows road but then gets very scenic)

546 Bus to Strobl then 150 Bus to St Gilgen, Fuschl or Salzburg.

546 Bus to Bad Ischl for culture, history, cake, thermal baths, walking.

From Bad Ischl train North to lake Traunsee.

Visit Gmunden or Traunkirchen (visit the fishermans chapel) lovely village great views of lakes mountains. Or Ebensee and go up the cable car for huts and walks.

From Bad Ischl train south to Hallstatt (Boat across the lake to get to Hallstatt) visit the salt mines or further along on the train Obertraun for the ice caves and 5 fingers.

Or get off at Hallstatt stop and walk back towards Bad Ischl. Catch train back from Steeg Gosau or Bad Goisern. Lovely walk and a great place to eat on the way on the lake side with amazing scenery.

You will be spoilt for choice. Loads to do and see.

If you get a bit stiff from walking try the thermal baths in Bad Ischl.
