Bus from Dubai to Abu Dhabi

Hi,

We will visiting Dubai from Friday 6th - Sunday 8th April before heading to Abu Dhabi to stay with family. Can anyone tell me how we go about getting the bus and where from etc?

We are staying at the Holiday Inn Al Barsha on Sheikh Zayed Road so where is the best place to get the bus? Is there a particular one to get? We want to be heading to anywhere around the Corniche area in Abu Dhabi.

We want to avoid paying taxi prices so figured the bus was a cheaper option - are there any other transport options (i.e. train)?

Many thanks in advance.

Full info on the bus between Dubai and AD on this thread:

tripadvisor.co.uk/…35192455

It's from a few months ago but if you call the number given you can get up to date information. Easiest for you would be to take the metro to Ibn Battuta mall and catch the bus from there.

There are no trains (apart from the metro) in the UAE.

From Holiday Inn al Barsha you can get the metro to IBN Battuta Mall station and then catch the bus to Abu Dhabi from IBN Battuta bus station.

You catch the bus to Abu Dhabi bus station and then a taxi to the corniche.

Or you can take a taxi from your hotel to IBN Battuta bus station.

There are no trains.

A taxi all the way door to door will cost around 250- 300 dirham (£47) and the distance is roughly the same as Liverpool to Leeds.

A taxi door to door will take around 90 minutes and so does the bus + added on time for the metro and walking with all your luggage between metro station

You will need to get the bus from Ghubaiba Bus Station which is the main bus station in Bur Dubai or IBN Battuta not sure which will be nearer for you ,

the buses run regularly but cant give you the times,

once you get to Abu Dhabi bus station you will need to get a taxi to where you want to go,

the bus fare is 20dhs pp & it takes around 90mins depending on traffic

Hello,

I am also willing to take a trip Dubai - Abu Dhabi.

Can you please advise if you can buy tickets from the bus driver? Or can you please tell me from where these tickets can be purchased?

Thank you.

I remember having to buy the tickets from a ticket office at the station in Dubai but in Abu Dhabi, we paid the driver. This was a couple of years back so not sure if this has changed. Either way, you won't have much problem in getting the tickets as the ticket office should be easily recognisable. The tickets are open tickets however, i.e with no fixed time put on the tickets, so you have to queue for the bus & board it on first come first served basis.

Hi, I am just back from my trip and experienced following

- Bus from Ibne Battuta Bus station to Main Bus station in Abu Dhabi

- Bus No 101

- runs almost every hour starting 5 am, in-between also 1/2 hourly. Will upload the snapshot of the time table.

- you buy the ticket in the bus and each way it is 25 Dirham p.P

-Once in Abu Dhabi, you can get local buses to the respective destinations. Ask at the counters, they are willing to help and speak English

- BEWARE of so called Taxi drivers, who will ask you, where you want to go- they are usually private drivers and will charge you more than a Taxi. Taxi meter starts at 3.50 Dirham (white Taxis). We paid 25 Dirham with the real Taxi from the Grand Mosque to the Bus station (after being cheated to 40 Dirham by a "private" Taxi driver)
