It's almost impossible for anyone to plan your holiday for you at the best of times but without knowing where you are staying it becomes totally impossible.

And you can't take children into nightclubs - the policy is strictly over 21s.

You need to decide where you want to stay and the first thing to do is look at your budget per night ?

If you tell us what that is then we can make some suggestions.

This is a map of Dubai with all the major attractions noted

bigbustours.com/eng/dubai/UploadedFiles/Duba…

Accomodation is cheaper in Deira and Bur Dubai. This area is older, more traditional and less westernised.

The downtown area, where Burj Khalifa is, is brand new and very cosmopolitan.

Al Barsha, where Mall of the Emirates is, is popular with several apartments at the cheaper end of the scale.

Dubai Marina and the area to the right of the Palm is very westernised and popular with tourists. You can find apartment accomodation here from mid range to high end price wise.

Satwa and the area around Mankhool road is also full of very reasonable apartment accomodation.

You can travel around Dubai very easily by metro, bus or taxi.

There is plenty for kids to do, please take a look at the Top Questions for Dubai at th right of the posts page and look at the section called 'Things for Kids to do in Dubai'

Abu Dhabi is 90 minutes away by cab or two hours by bus - it is quiet spread out and so you need to factor in how to manage your day so you're not chasing all over the city in the worng direction to get back. If you do plan to do it in one day then an organised tour with someone like Arabian Adventures may be better for you.
