Dubai

Where does one buy alcohol in Dubai--I found it wasn't in hotels, supermarkets etc but it was available in sleezy clubs frequented by locals and foreign girls. But that was 13 years ago--have things changed since? It appears the public transport system might have also improved which was long overdue.

An arriving passenger can purchase in Duty Free shops up to 4 litres. Otherwise the source is licensed bars - which may be in Clubs or hotels, whatever - where you can consume only there. 13 years have seen far too many developments that you may not recognize Dubai.

I don't know what hotel you stayed in but in 2007 that's 11 years ago , we were drinking alcohol in hotels .

I’m not sure Peter is really trying to discover any answers as he has made it plainly clear on other posts that he hates everything to do with Dubai, hates everything it represents and hates everything the local Emirates are trying to achieve.

His opinion seems solely based on a 4 day stop over 13 years ago.

Peter enjoy life and chill and enjoy your holidays.

Clearly peter h is trying to bait people into his conversation so he can spew his bigoted views.

Honestly, Dubai is doing just fine thanks!

If things have moved on from when I was there 14 yeas ago that is terrific news --I assume that includes treating women as equals --if not nothing much has changed

According to Peter in 2010 alcohol was even banned from cooking! My first trip to Dubai was 2001 and alcohol was available on flights, at the airport and in hotels and bars.

I tend not to visit seedy bars so am unable to comment on these selling alcohol.

I very much doubt Peter has been to Dubai.

when we went last October there was plenty of alcohol on sale in hotels/restaurants. Although wine was pricey it was offered at every meal. The Grand Hyatt was even holding Oktoberfest!!
