FIVE Palm Jumeirah Dubai

“Does anyone know when you check in how much deposit you need to pay.

We are due to arrive shortly for a week.

Also is there an option to upgrade to all inclusive on arrival ? as our tour operator said this may be available. We have booked half board with the sundowners package.

Unless a deposit is mentioned in your booking conditions, there should be no obligation to pay a deposit should you not wish to do so.

If they ask to preauthorise a card for 'charges', just politely decline - they can't force you, as usually it's for incidentals. However, this would likely mean any charges (above your half board) you incur you would likely have to settle 'as you go'. Alternatively, if the figure they request is too high for what you're likely to need, you could request a lower sum?

At a guess, if you're half board they may be looking for say 500 dirham or so as a deposit...

As for an upgrade to all inclusive, not many hotels in Dubai offer AI as a rule. However, hotels are always keen to offer 'upsells' so perhaps you could negotiate something extra. Always worth asking - worse they can say is no. Maybe they could do a 'throw in' of dinner too, or perhaps a drinks package in addition to sundowners or similar?

Generally, ignore what tour guides say - they'll usually say anything because they won't be held accountable and it's of no consequence to them.
