Drink Driving Laws

We're planning on hiring a car when in Zadar this coming September and I was wondering about the Croatian drink driving limits. Would I be ok to have a beer with lunch and still drive or is there a zero tolerance limit? Just to be clear I'm not planning on drinking 8 beers and using the car, i just want to know if i can have a beer and still drive.

thanks in advance for any replies/information

The legal riving limit is .05. Do you can have couple drinks and still drive. Apparently however, if you have and accident, you are deemed at fault if you have any alcohol in your system. That to me sounds stupid, but the is the law.

You're probably right. Better to err on the side of caution

Yep, that's what my husband always says. Once in Hungary he was tempted to have a beer with lunch. Lucky he didn't as he got stopped for a breathe test. The limit in Hungary is 0.0 so he would have been in trouble. Best to be safe than sorry as you never know what can happen.
