Hi, thinking of visiting Zadar 20-23 October this year. What's it like this time of year, is the weather ok? Bars and restaurants still open? Excursions still running? Thanks for any information xx
It is mid-Autumn. The weather might be nice and sunny, or it could rain and be quite windy. Zadar region gets the northerly cold wind (Bura). You just need to be prepared for all seasons.
As apt said, you can do day trips by bus to Krka NP and Plitvice. If ou have time, you could also do a day trip to Ugljan island. I doubt that any organised tours run at that time.
You'd be sorting things out yourself - I think that Split, being bigger, is more set up for tourists for a longer time into October. However, there will always be some bars and restaurants open and it's a good place to Krka from. Krka is great when it's had rain and is full of water.
We were there about a week earlier last fall. Weather was perfect for walking and siteseeing (we weren't there for the beach) it was busy enough to be lively but not overcrowded, and there was plenty to do and see. We didn't do any organized excursions, but booths were still set up on the waterfront hawking them.
