I have made reservation with this company and they are now asking for copy of my passport and credit card.
Is this normal?
It's not a company, rather a platform like Airbnb. So different hosts will have different policies. I would never send them copies of my passport and credit cards.
Thank you,, should be ok
but did they really ask you/your friend to send copies of your/their passports and credit cards?
Like Olgie and Johannes, I would, too, feel greatly uncomfortable doing this, especially via unsecured channel like e-mail.Edited: 07 June 2018, 00:28
Thank you Cora
Please, note that I didn't use them myself recently, so can't tell if this is their "new normal". Just browsed their web-site and only saw a pre-payment requirement, which can be done through the tools connected with their web-site, but that does not mean sending any credit cards' copies. And nowhere in the support they mention any ID's let alone CC copies are needed to be posted.
At what stage did this requirement pop up?
Such requests always alert me, when I plan my own travels and I always try to negotiate possible alternatives to avoid challenging my personal data.Edited: 07 June 2018, 00:44
As mentioned our friend used them and at no time did they ask for passport details.
I seem to recall they had to pay a deposit by cc.Edited: 07 June 2018, 01:14
Too late to edit.
Deposit was paid but I am not sure whether it was by CC
