Sean- I cannot more highly recommend Kuoda Travel. https://www.kuodatravel.com/ We used them for our trip to Peru including Machu Picchu in December 2017. Every single person we dealt with from our advisor who helped us plan the trip to our fabulous guide, David, our drivers and eve one else we dealt with at the company were amazing. Read the TripAdvisor reviews and know they are spot on. We used them based on a recommendation from a friend and I am so grateful we did!

Hi,

Next July I will travel to Peru with my wife and two daughters. I am reading in forums and blogs about which are the main sites to visit, tips, recommendations etc.

In some forums I have read that many users do not recommend hiring a package tour or a tour in advance but recommend hiring these services once at the destination and with local companies, which have cheaper prices.

Because I will travel with my family, I do not know if waiting to hire tours at the destination is a good idea.

On the other hand, I have been looking at some companies that offer 8-day package tours and from the different options I have found these are the ones I am evaluating.

I will continue researching and reading to make a final decision, although I will most likely hire tours in advance and through an agency.

Sean and all-

Having a reputable travel agency and guide already in place was key for us. Our son got sick in Lima and Kuoda travel arranged for a doctor appointment when we landed in Cusco. Our guide went to the appointment with us, translated when necessary and ensured we had follow up treatment if necessary. He knew what my son could and could not eat based on the meds they gave him. Also, coming back to the states our flight from Cusco was cancelled. Kuoda had people on the ground both in Cusco and Lima getting our flights rebooked and ensuring we made our connection. We only had about 40 minutes to collect our bags, check in, get through security and make our international connection. Without them we would not have made our flight (which was the case for other passengers on both our flight) and the next flight was the following day.

Whether you use Kuoda or another travel agent, it can make or break your trip.

Hello Roland! The trip to Machu Picchu is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating in the world. There are three ways to get there, by train, walking from "La Hidroeléctrica" ( 3 hours) or through the Inca Trail. I think the most fascinating way is the Inca Trail through steep trails for 4 days. I would recommend the agency All Inca Trail, is one of the best rated to do it. Greetings!

Hello Roland, if you are looking for an economic but also good service, I recommend you Allpandina Travel tour. i have travelled with them, the price is very reasonable and they have good attention to the passengers. they have different cost depends on what is the way you prefer to visit MachuPicchu, by car.., connection with sacred valley, by train...etc.

what i also suggest... if you come to Cusco to check the local agency on the street, you have to be very careful. Some agencies they may have very low price but also the service is very poor...they forget to pick you up or the guide doesn't speak English... many things according to my experience.

if you want a private service with good quality and full information, i know a guide he is the archaeologist in Cusco, very professional and is able to provide you amazing information. just write me if you need his contact. He is the best guide i have ever.
