Confused About Booking Cruise

I know that I want to go on an eight to ten day cruise to visit the islands in the west and north. I'd like the boat/ship/yacht to be on the smaller side (max of 20 people), better than basic but luxury not needed. I'd like the activities (at least hiking and snorkeling) to be included and I'd need the onboard menu to be flexible enough to include a vegetarian. The budget is around $5000 per person for two of us.

I've looked into some of what is offered: Monserrat, Samba, Coral, Orion, Nemo II and III, and the Galaxy Diver II. I don't see a direct website to book for most of them, only third party booking sites. What am I missing?

Any other suggestions or corrections are always welcome.

The Samba gets consistently rave reviews. That would be my choice if I were lucky enough to go back for a third trip!

Dear Sarah,

most ships rely on third party agencies to help them find guests - more so for the small family owned operations who don't have a big ability to market themselves internationally (this doesn't apply, for example, to Celebrity Cruises / Silversea / National Geographic cruises etc...).

It is standard practice, and prices are the same, whether you go directly to the ship owners or through a representative agency. And more often, a decent representative agency will give you much better service - as it's their specialty and depending on the jurisdiction in which they operate, you may benefit from good consumer protection regulations.

Warmest regards,

Also consider the Tip Top ships. We were on Tip Top II last year and had a great trip.

We will be returning in May to do a trip an Anahi (thanks to help from Heather as our travel agent.)
