I’m going to ask some really tedious tipping questions…

We are doing a 5-day cruise on the Santa Cruz II

- who precisely do you physically hand the tip to?

- can you tip in US dollars? I was going to prepare 2 (?) envelopes that split the 10% tip in half - to give to…

- is this process made obvious?

Thanks!

And here are some "tedious" responses in a recent thread https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g294310-i6637-k13872532-Tipping_crew_on_Galapagos_Cruise-Galapagos_Islands.html

Ecuador uses USD as its currency.

Ask your tour operator how tipping is handled on this boat. Some boats leave envelopes for the passengers to use, some have a box in which to place the envelopes for the crew (there are crew members behind the scenes you may never see or interact with) which is then split among them. Guides are tipped separately.

Thanks! I think I thought my questions were more tedious than they are! 😆

That forum didn’t answer the physical act of tipping. But I think you did!

There’s 2 people who receive an envelope.

1. Your guide

2. A central location or point of contact who collects and distributes tips to the rest of staff.
