Itinerary for 5 nights 6 days

Hi,

We (2 Adults and 1 child 7 year old) are planning to travel to Singapore this weekend. We have 5 nights and 6 days (flight to Singapore teaches at 9:30 AM and return flight is at 7:40 PM so we have time both days).

Can you help us plan an itinerary. Indicative one below.

Day 1: Reach hotel by 12 noon. Rest and local shopping within little India or Chinatown?? In evening night safari ( what time should we go?).

Day 2 : Universal studios (full day). What time should we start. And is express pass needed since it will be Saturday.

Day 3 : Sentosa (full day). What time should we start? And what all should be covered?

Day 4 : Jurong bird park (first half) and zoo+ river safari in second half. What time should we start and is it the right sequence/any timing recomdation?

Day 5 : Garden by the bay in first half and Singapore flyer/ marina bay sands (are they same) in second half. Timing and sequence recommendation needed.

Day 6: City tour and any other places left out (any museums or places for kids). Would need to leave hotel by 4:30 for a 7:40 PM. Flight.

Please suggest. Also I am planning to book hotel only and plan the places of interest there itself and buy tickets in Singapore itself. Is it recommended to get a package before travel itself?

Regards,

Shashank

See my comments below:

<Day 1: Reach hotel by 12 noon. Rest and local shopping within little India or Chinatown?? In evening night safari ( what time should we go?).>

Little India or Chinatown? Your personal choice though if you are staying in Little India, then probably you should go to Chinatown instead.

Night Safari on the day after a red eye flight is an extremely bad idea. You could do Gardens by The Bay, Light Show at Super Tree Grove and then followed by Spectra Show at MBS.

<Day 2 : Universal studios (full day). What time should we start. And is express pass needed since it will be Saturday.>

Reach USS by 10am. Express pass could be expensive since there are 3 of you. Probably go for the single rider queues instead since these queues will be much shorter.

Day 3 : Sentosa (full day). What time should we start? And what all should be covered?

As early or as late as you wish. What should be covered depends on your interests so take a look through the Sentosa website and decide for yourself. https://www.sentosa.com.sg/

<Day 4 : Jurong bird park (first half) and zoo+ river safari in second half. What time should we start and is it the right sequence/any timing recomdation?>

If you want to do the Zoo + River Safari, then skip the Bird Park. Otherwise you can do the Bird Park + River Safari and Skip the Zoo. Or you could do the River Safari + Night Safari or the Bird Park + Night Safari.

<Day 5 : Garden by the bay in first half and Singapore flyer/ marina bay sands (are they same) in second half. Timing and sequence recommendation needed.>

Do this on Day 1 instead. Then on this day do the other 2 wildlife parks that you didn't do on Day 4. Take note that Zoo + Night Safari is a very bad idea.

<Day 6: City tour and any other places left out (any museums or places for kids). Would need to leave hotel by 4:30 for a 7:40 PM. Flight.>

Which are the other places you want to go to? City Tour is usually done on the first day and not the last so you might want to skip that. Check out times at hotels is usually 11am or 12 noon. You could check out in the morning, leave your luggage at the hotel and go out for your final activities before returning to pick up your luggage and going to the airport later in the afternoon.

<Please suggest. Also I am planning to book hotel only and plan the places of interest there itself and buy tickets in Singapore itself. Is it recommended to get a package before travel itself?>

Buy the tickets in Singapore itself. Prebooking is not necessary.

Hi

Day 1: Which is nearer to the hotel, head for it. Night Safari operation hours: 1930h to 0000h. What time you should be visiting, up to you.

Day 2: Universal Studio, express pass would be good. Saturday would be crowded, be there at it opening hours from 1000h to 1900h with the following exceptions

1. Extension of operating hours till 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays from 23 March 2018 - 25 August 2018.

2. Operating hours will be changed to 10am - 8pm on 9 and 23 June 2018.

3. Operating hours will be changed to 10am - 7pm on 22 June 2018 and 28 July 2018.

Day 3: Sentosa

The island is open every day, including public holidays, with varying operating hours for the different attractions, retail shops, food and beverage outlets as well as transport services. If you are planning to visit our attractions, most of them are open from 9am - 10pm daily and some close as early as 6pm. The last entry is usually 30 minutes before closing time.

"What all should be covered" - use this website

https://www.sentosa.com.sg/

"What time should we start?" - Your call entirely

Day 4: "Jurong bird park (first half) and zoo+ river safari in second half. What time should we start and is it the right sequence/any timing recomdation" - Can only do two attractions in one day. If you want to do all 3, by all means. Jurong Bird Park is in the West while the other two are in the North. Cab is needed to reduce the traveling time from the Bird Park to the two or either. What time should you start, be there at the moment the gate is open

Day 5: Gardens By the Bay, Flyer and MBS, do it after lunch if you are not going to visit the 2 consevatories.

That leaves your time before lunch for some rest. The 7 year old baggage I doubt can take further stress given the already packed and extended schedule.

Day 6: City Tour, DIY. Use Google Map to map out the places intended for a visit. Museums for kids, give it a pass, to shallow for a 7 year old.

Try this instead, Mint Museum of Toys,

http://emint.com/mint-museum/

Flight at 1940h. leaving hotel at 1630h. International flight is 2 hours before the scheduled flight time, that is 1740h. 1630h - 1800h is cab handover shift period, and would be difficult to get a cab during this period.

The MRT is suitable for small luggages, wardrobe size is a nuisance to other commuters at that hour and it

MRT to Changi Airport would probably takes about 1h30min inclusive of making your way to the nearest station from the hotel at 1630h and waiting time.

Have you booked your hotel already? Where is its location?

Just make sure your credit card is activated for overseas usage and your mobile number registered with the bank can receive OTP if you intend to make online ticket purchases while in Singapore.

It's already Tuesday night. 2.5 days from your scheduled flight & you still haven't book a hotel?

If you're landing at 9:30am, that means you're taking a red-eye flight to Singapore. You'll be quite drowsy by late afternoon. Forget about a full night outing like the Night Safari.

You want to DIY, so go ahead & research yourself when & what to do at each attraction. We're not travel agents.

No, the Flyer & MBS aren't at the same location. Merlion Park is also at the other side of the Bay.

The wildlife parks need more time for better enjoyment. But if you'll willing to rush (& skip the animal shows/feeding sessions), you can combine the Zoo/River Safari for one day, & the Bird Park/Night Safari for another.

Switch USS to Monday, when the school holidays will be over. Check the crowds there & decide whether to buy express tickets on the spot. You can also join the single-rider queues. USS will remain open until 8pm.

It's best to turn up at opening times.

Day 1 (Fri) - GBTB, hotel check-in, Marina Bay, light shows.

Day 2 (Sat) - Zoo, River Safari.

Day 3 (Sun) - Sentosa (full day + night).

Day 4 (Mon) - USS (full day + night).

Day 5 (Tue) - Bird Park, hotel rest, Night Safari.

Day 6 (Wed) - early hotel checkout, Chinatown or Little India.

5. Re: Itinerary for 5 nights 6 days

Thanks for the detailed feedback. So do you reckon this can be a good itinerary?

Day 1 : Friday

Check-in and then city tour (suggestions on what to see and how I.e mrt/taxi). Head to GBTB ( including light shows) and MBSSP (what to do here)? Little confused on how to juggle between GBTB and MBSSP. Can I do Singapore flyer instead of one of these? Clark quay ( heard there is a laser show there as well). Will need to pick some from advice for first day.

Day 2 : Saturday

Sentosa full day including wings of time. Don't want to do USS on 23rd as it will close by 8 that day like someone pointed out.

Day 3 : Sunday

USS and crane dance in the evening. Should I do on Monday instead to avoid rush?

Day 4 : Monday

Jurong bird park in first half followed by night safari ( or other way around). Heard there is a bus from being which takes us to night safari.

Day 5 :

Zoo followed by river safari (or other way around)

Day 6 :

Checkout and check the alive museum or toy museum and leave for airport by 4:30

Thanks,

Thanks minxbaby. Hotel is around little India (park royal).

Yeah that's a good point. I'll have to ensure I have international roaming activated for which I'll have to incur a cost. Can't I buy directly instead of online.

Also does Singapore ATM charge a transaction fees for outside Singapore debit cards?

Thanks,

You can buy directly from the counter also, just that sometimes online rates are cheaper. At the wildlife parks, there are terminals for you to book online.

ATM withdrawal charges will depend on your bank.

Alive Musuem has closed down. You can go to Trick Eye Museum in Sentosa.

You could actually get a traveller sim at the airport. This will be better for you and you will reduce the international roaming data and call charges if you were to use your India sim.

Your itinerary looks fine now. You can also check the Sentosa website and see if the 2 day USS+Sentosa Fun passes are suitable for you. There are some savings when you take the passes but not all attractions are included. Also with this pass, you can only do USS on 1 day and the sentosa attractions on the next day.
