You could try Darayonan Lodge, which is at Coron town. They provide cheap accomodations there, although even if you dont book in advance there are many other options in Coron. By the way, you used the word resort- this isnt a resort ok? If that is what you are looking for just go Club Paradise or El Rio y Mar, which is within the vicinity of those islands also.

Anyway, if you're ok with down to earth accomodation, try Darayonan and other similar places in Coron Town itself. Here, there arent any beach front properties, so you will have to take a boat tour to visit sights, or do snorkelling tours or visit a more secluded island (the boat men would know the names of the places). Anyway at the lodge i mentioned. they also arrange boat tours to Kayangan and Barracuda Lake, Twin Lagoon, and you could ask them also to arrange a trip to Maquinit springs or if you want, you could just flag down any trike driver and ask them to take you there.

For DARAYONAN LODGE, you may contact Chin Fernandez (whose family owns the place, i think) at his e-mail addy: dipulao@i-manila.com.ph. Sorry I dont have a phone number...

Its really worth the trip specially if you like nature, and the sea... Dont miss out on the snorkelling!

what are you planning to do in coron? there's:

1. sea dive resort (http://www.seadiveresort.com), no beach but good rooms ranging from $10usd -$17usd with tour and diving services.

2. Sangat Island Resort, the resort with the beach where you can enjoy total isolation. accomodations are $54/person up

3. Discovery Divers (http://www.ddivers.com/) situated on a valley- $30/person (inclusive of accomodation, 3 meals, & boat transfers) for non-divers & $79/person for divers.

4. The Village Lodge w/c is near the market & public pier. rooms range from $15-25usd

5. KokosNuss Garden Resort & Restaurant (http://www.kokosnuss.info/) w/ accomodations ranging from $12-32. they offer island hopping, motorbike rental, dive safari

thanks for all the useful information. however, we've decided not to go to coron and instead spend more time in el nido because of the very limited flight schedules to and from coron. maybe, we'll just go to coron separately since there seem's to be a lot of things that we can do or visit while in coron. thanks a bunch!

I've been to Coron, Palawan last summer and I can say that it was a very rewarding experience..

If you want to find out where we stayed and how much it cost us for the whole trip (its very cheap!), read on this blog: …blogspot.com/2009/07/coron-palawan-get-away…
