Food budget for a family of 4

We are planning a two week trip. 8 days in Tokyo and 6 days in Disneyland/Sea for the kids. How much would you budget food wise for those 8 days in Tokyo. Let’s say 3 meals plus one snack daily both kids are under 10yrs.

6 days at Disney? You sure you want that much time there. Most would go 1 day Disney, 1 day Disneysea at most.

As always with Disney, prices are more expensive for food.

We are not planning all six days in Disney. Maybe 2 days in Disneyland and 1 day at the DS but we will be in that area for six days.

Cannot speak about Disney as I have never been and never thought of going. But as with the US version, the food inside is expensive...

For non-Disney foods, this depends on what you normally eat and if you are actively trying to spend less for food... However, I found eating out in Japan cheaper than many US cities. In the city, you will see many lunch time specials and I say those are anywhere from 600 yen to 1500 yen. If you buy bento lunch from convenience stores (they are not that bad) you can find 300-700 yen range. If you go to a supermarket the deli section has wide range of prepared food and if you spend 2000-3000 yen there you can probably feed a family of 4. Even dinner too, we often get by with 1500-2000 yen per person for a sit down dinner.

The problem is if you are a big coffee drinker. Japanese cafe generally won't offer free refill and the cup of coffee is tiny.

Food at Tokyo Disney is actually reasonably priced when it comes to theme park food imo. Bottled drinks are roughly 210 yen each from cart stands and you can get small snacks like pastries/popcorn for approx 200-500yen. You can get a small set menu lunch/drink like a slice of pizza or burger and drink for around 7-900yen and then more meal size portions for 1100-1500 yen in the quick/counter service type restaurants. There are restaurants that are a lot more expensive but as they are sit down meal/table service we've never eaten at those as it takes a lot of time out of your park day. If you look on the official Tokyo Disney resort website you can see sample menus and prices to get a better idea (at the top of the homepage select the park and then there is a restaurant tab, more details are in the Japanese version).

I don't know when you are coming, so I can't tell you how much Tokyo Disney Resort(TDR) will be crowded, but in general it is more crowded than Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California. Therefore, I don't recommend you to focus on the TDR, and it's better to spend more time in other places.
