Kinosaki Onsen gender separation

My girlfriend and me are planning a trip to Kinosaki Onsen, but we are wondering if all seven of the onsens are separated by gender. We would like to join each other in the onsen, so we would like to go to a mixed gender onsen. Is this possible here?

Thank you!

All public ones are separated by gender.

To enjoy onsen together with your girlfriend, you need to book a private onsen bath with a hotel or ryokan. If you are staying, some places offer family bath, which you book by the hour. There is usual an extra charge for this.

The draw of Kinosaki is the town's atmosphere and the public baths. Many ryokans have either limited private bath facilities or even on onsen in-house as a result. Don't put too much emphasis on soaking together during your visit. A typical soak lasts maybe 10 minutes anyway (plus changing time). You won't be separated for long.

Okay, that is very clear. Do you know if it is possible to book a private onsen somewhere where we are not staying? A lot of these places are quite expensive, and were wondering if for a daytrip purpose we could book a private onsen. Do any of you know if that is possible?

Sander, where else in Japan are you staying or passing through? While Kinosaki Onsen baths are gender separated, there are possibilities to find mixed baths in other areas of Japan that would suit your purpose.

They have day use, they have private onsen for rent. Whether day-users can rent that, you have to check with the place. From 6450 yen per person including wagyu lunch.

This one advertises rental private onsen for day use (11:30 check-in, 16:00 check-out), but no rates provided www.kinsui.net/kinosaki/stay/daytour.html
