Metal detectors and X-ray machines at Tokyo Disney!?!?

Is this for real? Airport style. Just started.

If anyone going soon, can you give an update on how long it took and how strict the xray search was. I wont be going until Oct but just want some info.

It seems they've started doing this in September 2001.

As long as you don't try to bring in something unacceptable for Disney, you'd be alright.

The inexorable expansion of the security state....globalization is not just positive unfortunately.

I dont know. I went to Disney Sea in April 2017 and only went thru a quick bag search. I'll be going to Tokyo Disneyland this October.

Last time I brought small snacks (crackers, chips, candies, onigiri) and bottled drink in. Wondering if they will be strict on outside food. I did still spend almost 10,000 yen in food and drinks throughout Sea. I would have spent another 5,000 yen if I hadn't brought in small snacks. The constant walking around made me hungry.

Strict or not. They don't want you to bring outside food, so don't.

They weren't then when I went that day at Sea. Unless the cast member who checked didn't mind the small snacks and bottle drink when I went through. It wasn't like a bento or a bag full of "real" food. And I saw a bunch of people with outside food inside the park (and yes, that included local Japanese families and foreign tourists).

I'm thinking because the Olympics is coming up plus what's going on worldwide they implemented this type of high security since it is a place with a lot of people in one area. And with this, I'm going to assume bringing outside food will be stricter TSA style.
