Time needed to clear immigrations & customs in Narita

Hi,

On Saturday 18th August I am arriving to Narita T1 North Wing at 9:05pm.

Considering that this flight is often delayed by 10 to 15 minutes and that there is one more flight landing at the same time, what are my chances of making it to the last Skyliner, leaving at 10:30pm, when it seems that the ticket office stops issuing tickets five minutes prior to the scheduled departure?

Many thanks to you all in advsnce for your help,

Sally

Will you have checked in luggage? Where in the airplane is your seat?

Yes, unfortunately I will. And I will be in row 34 aisle though I am hoping to get a seat closer to the exit when I check in.

My guess is that if your flight isn't more than 20 minutes late, then you'll have a decent chance. Actually, luggage isn't the problem, waiting in line for immigration is your biggest chance for delay. I have a residence visa, so I can bypass that line. Often it seems that that the tourist line is long and slow, though impossible to predict. Obviously, when you get off the plane, rush to get ahead of those other passengers for the immigration line.

"Just take a taxi"

A taxi from NRT to Tokyo isn't practical. There are other train and Limo Bus options to Tokyo at that hour.

What is your destination in Tokyo, and is it hotel or other place?

Chances - very good. At that time of night there are not many flights and few airlines use the north wing (most are south wing arrivals.)

Even if you missed the Skyliner, there are other options to get into Tokyo.

>>>get a taxi<<<

don't - what bad advice.

I agree. Your chances of catching the last Skyliner are very good, even if your flight is 15-20 minutes late. If you miss it, you can take the Access Express train (last one at 23:00) or limobus to TCAT (22:50).

Fixed fare taxi will cost nearly 30,000yen after 10pm.
