You can select the seat.
Nozomi service trains on JR Tokaido Shinkansen line departs from Shinagawa and Tokyo, and you need to take the Kiekyu Railway train from Haneda Airport International Terminal - but anyway, you can select the seat on the ticket machines with English language option (or ask for a seat next to the window where you can see Mt Fuji, if you like at the ticket office).Edited: 01 August 2018, 17:30
When you buy tickets using the machine, you pick your own seats from a seat plan. If you go to a ticket counter, you tell the staff what seats you want.Edited: 01 August 2018, 23:32
Fujisan side is C and D in the Green Car. No E seats in Green as they are 2X2 configuration. In the ordinary car, it'll be D and E.
Thank you again.
One further question:
Do the ticket machines take credit card? I seem to remember, in the past, that they were cash only.
Though my memory could be entirely wrong :)
Yes, the ticket machines take credit cards but you need to know your pin number.
