New Food and Travel forum on Tripadvisor

Greetings to fellow TA Members on the Jakarta and general Indonesia forums.

I wanted to quickly mention that Tripadvisor has created a new Food and Travel forum (see link) for foodies and those seeking new destinations to visit based on interests in food and cuisine (see link).

tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g1-i32200-Food_and…

In addition to inviting all to visit the Food and Travel forum, we welcome anyone with knowledge of Javanese or other Indonesian food and cuisine to contribute there if interested. Please feel free to stop by if you like.

Best Regards, Happy Holiday and Bon Appetite.

Nice to see you on the Indonesia forum, BradJill. Yes, there is a lot of interesting food to be found in Indonesia, as well as interesting places to eat.

In Yogyakarta I love the little warungs which are set up in the evenings on the footpaths in many places. It's amazing the wonderful food they can product with only a wok and a gas bottle or a little charcoal barbeque sort of arrangement. In most of these places you sit on the ground on a raffia mat and it is a very upmarket place which will have tiny plastic stools. It is expected that you'll leave your shoes at the edge of the mat as though you're entering a person's home.

When travelling through the countryside, it's a treat to see the endless acres of different vegetables growing, often right down to the roadside. Fresh fruit of all descriptions is readily available all over the place and the flavour seems to be a great deal better than what we are able to buy at home in our supermarkets.
