Midnight Quake

Did anyone else feel the new quake at about 11:50 PM on 8/06?

This was a new one. I felt it in Sanur but not as strong as the big quake. I'm guessing it hit Lombok again?

Hi,

8/6?

I thought it was just 7/6 right now. That said, aftershocks are pretty common but I didn’t feel anything in Seminyak.

Hmmm am I losing track of my months? August 6 would be 8/6.

I wouldn't think it's an aftershock, because this is the first one I've felt since the big quakes.

Is it normal to have an aftershock more than a full day later?

Hi,

Yes I wasn’t thinking, it’s that US thing of putting the months first - just seems weird to us Brits.

Yes, you can have aftershocks more than 24 hours later, the first big one was about 2 hours after the big one yesterday, a 4.2, felt it in Seminyak and another slight tremor this morning.

This last one seems to be have been noticed in the north, Ubud and where you are but not so much the West.

Cheers

You can have aftershocks days, weeks , months afterward...I live in Christchurch. Also other earthquakes that are no big deal just a nuisance/fright

After shocks. Unpredictable and can go for weeks.

Of course it’s normal to have after shocks... and for a very long time!! We had a major quake here in NZ and aftershocks went on for a year... and yes they can be large ones!! They are unpredictable for the first couple of weeks but generally ease after that
