Should I buy VIP immigration service at Denpasar Airport?

I was offered to buy a VIP immigration service from the hotel that we are staying at for 20USD per person (net). I guess this would mean priority treatment in the "crew" line.

Is this worth it? I'm flying Singapore Airlines, and I guess the flight is pretty full, but does immigration take a long time generally at DPS? We will need Visa on Arrival.

And, are there ATM's in the terminal? In general, are there charges on the ATM's with foreign cards, except those imposed by my own bank?

hi

it depends how many planes land at the same time ...i have been when 3 planes land , which can take a while & i have been when 1 plane has landed & it hasnt taken that long . but as you say , you will still need to line up for the visa anyway , but that is a pretty quick process ....the immigration is the longest process ...but i have never herd of this vip treatment before !

there are atm's at the airport as well as money changers if you dont want the bank fees.

check with your bank prior to arrival in bali to see what the will actually charge you for using your card overseas ....and dont forget , it will be EVERYTIME you use the card .

cheers

If it is the Intercontinental Hotel that is offering this service - you don't have to line up at all!

You sit in a special little room and drink bubbly while someone else queues on your behalf! Then collects your bags etc and takes them through customs with you!

There is ATMS all over the airport - there is one by the luggage collection carousel. As Batt said you will be charged a flat overseas transaction fee by your bank (and any other charges... )

It pays to get the max limit - it is usually 1.5 - 2 million rp daily limit depending on the account... make sure you wait for the machine to give you your card back - unlike O/S machines it returns the card after giving you your cash so it is easy to walk away with your money minus card!!

Thanks a lot for your advice.

I contacted the hotel again (not IC, but will be staying there later on in the trip), and they say the VIP service means someone else will take care of immigration etc. Sounds good, but I wonder whether it is actually worth to shell out 40 USD for me and my girlfriend for this service?! Annoying bit is that I should have this included in my IC stay (staying in Club room), but I'm going to other parts of Bali first so don't think I can use that benefit when arriving to Bali...

Or?

hi I_Need_A_Break_NOW,

although lining up in que's at an airport can be annoying , it is all part of the holiday ! what is a holiday if your not going to do it all ....

if it was me , i dont think the wait is worth $40 at all ,as i enjoy the vibe at the airport , watching eveyones " excited to be in bali " look on there faces , the kids jumping around in hesitation to get through and see a country they have never seen before ...while having someone do all your running around for you might seem inspiring to some .......immigration , just all adds to the fun i think.

cheers

In March it only took me approx. 10 minutes from exiting the plane to completing immigration, boy was I ecstatic!!! Then I stood at the baggage carousel for 20 minutes as my bag was the last one off the plane!! LOL You win some, you lose some!

The villas I stay at also offer this VIP Clearance service and I love it. Nothing nicer than being escorted past the long queue of tired travellers. They even walk you through the customs area too (you may or may not get checked) but it avoids being hassled by porters.

My vote is YES it is worth the money! (But don't tell too many people or else we may find we are queuing up for the VIP express lane!)

I wish I had known about it when we arrived - it would totally have been worth the money to me. We did not have a good experience and were over an hour in line that didn't move - there were hundreds of people from at least 3 different planes.

it is sooooooooooooooooooooo worth it.

last time my partner & i went we lined up in the q for 2 hours, HOT and TIRED. I didnt know about the VIP service then. Im going back to Bali in May and have organised it cause if i had to line up in that line every time i went to bali it would out me off, especially when it's 1am aussie time & you've been travelling on the plane for 6 hours..........

also you are best to have the USD$25 all ready to go before you depart!!!!!!!!

Visa in Jakarta...does anyone know if they offer a VIP Service to get us through what can only be described as a nightmare from my last 4 experiences?
