New Free Voa

Curious to see if anyone has had a problem with the new free voa? I am an American citizen and will be going to Jakarta in a month, I've heard various reports that the voa is free as well as they are still charging $35. Do you proceed to the voa desk, or straight to immigration desk? Looking forward to all replies.....

Straight to the immigration with your passport. Be ready to answer questions about your itinerary and have your onward tickets printed and at hand. Visa free is granted for sole tourism purpose, if you fail to prove that you are a tourist or immigration officer is unconvinced with your answers, you may be pointed to VOA counter to pay 35 USD.

<< you cannot fly into a free VOA airport and out of a non free VOA airport (i.e. into Jakarta out of Manado).>>

That`s incorrect: Passport holders from all visa exempt countries can enter Indonesia without a visa for tourism purposes only and must enter through the following ports of entry:

Hang Nadim Airport, Batam

Juanda International Airport, Surabaya

Kualanamu International Airport, Medan

Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali

Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, Jakarta

and exit Indonesia from designated international 25 airports + 9 seaports

5. Re: New Free Voa

It seems that the restriction to 5 airports and 9 seaports no longer applies and visa-free entry is now possible via 124 entry points (probably about every legal border crossing).

Is it indeed the case? Can anybody confirm it?
