addtional free day in Bejing

we are heading to china to celebrate the year of the tiger. The tour we are on takes us though all the major sites leaving us with a free day and addional night to play on our own.

Could you please recommend something else to check out. maybe off the beaten path, china underground, funky verses just touristic.

also we will be there to celebrate the new year. any particular place to participate and observe the festivities

many thanks in advance

It is hard to suggest a complement to what you are already seeing as we have no idea what you are already seeing.
