I have heard that certain tour agencies are not booking trips on ss sudan steamer cruise ship due to security concerns?? is this true as we want to go...
I think you are hearing a rumour that is not true. Egypt is safe for tourist to visit. Search the forum. The question gets asked a lot. I have not heard of an incidents that would be of concern.
The SS Sudan is a nice ship and you will be well looked after taking a cruise on it.
I heard this from a Ramasside tours rep today when i inquired via live chat today" with a rep regarding booking a cruise on the SS sudan, maybe for another reason besides security as they said Ramasside isn't dealing with them currently,, question you must have booked a cruise on the Sudan, can you recommend or help us do the same??
I doubt it’s anything to do with security. Ramasside had probably gotten into a dispute of some sort with the Sudan’s owners/operators and may well be playing the security card as general excuse and a way of selling another cruise package before disappointed customers look elsewhere.
I am thinking the same as you,,, thanks. We are going to check out Nour el Nil nile river tour and their smaller boats cruises, any dealings with them? thanks.
Why are you using a 3rd party for looking at SS Sudan and I am baffled to see your logic saying because of Security reasons?
Very puzzling and it is an amazing boat but now you are looking at different boats on the nile?
Is their security better than AS Sudan then?
They all use the same water.
Why do people go around the houses to simply book direct?
Go straight to the horses mouth before feeding someone extra money to book something you can do yourself.
Book directly with the ship rather than through an agency you’ll get better service. You can always ask them about security but I think it’s a ruse from the agency you’ve used to use somewhere they get a better deal from
Security is top notch on the Sudan. It even raises the gang plank when docked so strangers like me could not take a look around.
Maybe they don't mount a twin .50 Cal machine gun on the rear after they depart like many other boats?
Like others, I suspect it's a story made up to explain their lack of ability to sell you tickets or their desire to sell you tickets for another boat. It's a bit like those that tell you it's not safe to leave the hotel unless your guide is with you, which is another load of b*****ks!
You might also consider the SS Misr which offers the historic steam ship experience at a slightly lower price level. I took a seven night cruise on the Misr about 10 years ago and booked through a popular UK agency who still offer the same itinerary package, including flights to/from the UK, but again it's also possible to plan your trip DIY and book just the cruise part direct with the ship:
It depends on the communication between the Ship and the Travel Agent
They are specialists in the Nile Cruises and knows very well the customer needs.
Try to reach them by email and they will reply you accordingly
