Travelling as a group of women?

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked already.

Ive been advised against soloing Egypt and I respect why, since I'm young.

There are four of us thinking about ten days. We're from London but one of our friends speaks Arabic which should help out.

But have any of you done a group trip recently?? If you could tell me abit about your trip/areas/funding or general advice I'd really appreciate it.

Have a look at the top tips on the right of the forum screen on a tablet or PC. There are different tips on the Egypt, Cairo, Luxor and Aswan forums.

You don't need to speak Arabic at all to get around in Egypt as almost everyone who deals with tourists speaks English.

You'll be absolutely fine as a group of women providing you don't allow yourself to get too friendly with Egyptian men. Respectable Egyptian ladies would never do this and if you do, they may well think you aren't respectable.

In 10 days you will be able to see each of the four major tourist destinations above. You could also consider some beach time. If you look at 10 day package tours, you will be able to see what it is feasible to do in that time. You should also get a decent guidebook and decide what most interests you, then come back here and ask specific questions.

No reason why a group of four should have a problem. You can get by without Arabic but having an Arabic speaker is definitely helpful.

Plenty of time in ten days to see and do lots. As has been said, behave responsibly and respectfully keep local males at a distance and you should have a great time.

Who advised you not to travel solo and why?

For Egypt, just use the same common sense as you would travelling anywhere.

As a solo female traveller (it doesn't matter if you are young or old) I echo Catherine and Verity - dress and act respectfully.

Read the appropriate clothing, first timers and scam advice in the Top Questions on the right. Wearing inappropriate tight and revealing clothing will get you noticed and attract unwanted male attention.

Those questions will prepare you for what you "might' experience in Egypt and help you decide if you would rather do a tour.

Go to a travel agent in London and get a handful of brochures which will at least give you some useful ideas for itineraries that interest you and your friends.

If you want the Company of other young people, best to book a tour at home. Everything is taken care of like transport, hotels, tours etc.

Or you can book everything yourself and go it alone or organise a private tour with just the four of you through an Egyptian company.

Agree with all above posts, there is no reason why to worry about , just try to organize the tour the best way that fulfil your needs and places you wish to visit, also try to book hotels as well as nile cruises in advance, if you wish to do the trip just for the 4 of you then may be as advised to consider contacting and Egyptian Local company that would organize accommodation and may be also transportation for you, also you can choose to do the tours either by yourself or through this agency to arrange you a guide and transportation , a Local agency would be much cheaper than to contact one from home.

if you choose to be by your own , then as advised to not get so friendly with local Egyptian young men as this would not be looked at in a nice way, also the advises about proper clothes would help you a lot.

Wish you a nice trip in my country
