Getting around in Abu Dhabi

We have a 9 day holiday booked in October staying at Khalydia palace with two kids. We are planning on doing trips every day covering 10km ish like Ferrari World, Warner, Zoo, Louvre, Mosque, Mangroves, Zoo....We planned to hire a car but have been put off by feedback on accidents/roadworks etc..my husband is a 'nervous' driver at best of times! Is it expensive to get taxis everywhere as we don't have pots of cash to throw around (£25 / one way trip to Ferrari world?) Are taxis plentiful and easy to pick up? Have checked out public transport (free or cheap!) but journey times seem long e.g. 1.5 hours to Ferrari world from hotel. Also have looked at Big Bus for 3 days (£160 / four people). Problem is we want to do a few sites per day. Help MUCH appreciated folks.

Abu Dhabi is not so congested as Dubai for driving - but if you’re used to drive on the left side and is nervous about driving of the right, then it may be a good idea to give it a miss:-)

Public transportation is hit and miss - unless you start at the bus station (and maybe not even that) you’ll have to be at the bus stop 15-20 min before the time, as the busses can be early (or they can be late...) - you can not use money/credit card in the bus, you need a “travel card”.

Taxis are all over, most do not take credit card, so make sure you have cash. A trip to Ferrari World from your hotel would be around 80 aed (17 £). It takes around 30 min.

The zoo is further out... also there’s a better zoo in Al Ain, but that’s a long drive and would be expensive in a taxi. (Al ain is a great place though)
