Airport to Hotel De La Mer

Can someone tell me the best/cheapest way to travel from the Tel Aviv airport to the Hotel DeLa Mer? It would be for 6 adults plus luggage.

Thanks

There's a difference between "best" and "cheapest." For the best, most convenient way with all that luggage take a taxi. Taxi fares from the airport to central Tel Aviv are reasonably priced.

You need 2 taxis, taxis are the best option and they run 24/7. The other option is the train. This depends on the day and hour of your arrival. From the train station you'll have to take a bus to your hotel and have to schlep your luggage to have the cheapest way. Taxi door-to-door is about 150 shekels meaning 50/pp. Train is 12, bus is 6.4 adding to 18.4/pp.

You can also ask the dispatcher at the taxi stand if he can get you a mini-van taxi that will be able to accommodate all of you plus your luggage in one vehicle.

2 Taxi's for sure. You probably don't want to be schlepping all those bags on public transport after a long flight. Public transport will be cheaper, but in my opinion, not worth all of the hassle.

As Oreet indicated, there are also mini-van taxis so you are not necessarily going to need two cabs. I was at the airport early today to meet someone and the mini-vans are definitely there!

Van availability really depends on the time you arrive. While they do have them, along with stretch taxis occasionally, you may not find them available if its busy or an off peak hour. By far, there are always more standard taxis.

What many people may not know is that while you may only see 10 or so taxis at the taxi stand when you are at the airport - there are over a hundred waiting behind the scenes. Rather than have all the taxis wait at the curb outside the terminal, and have their motors running, contributing to noise, pollution, congestion, etc. There is a lot behind the scenes that is the "holding area" for taxis waiting to get a fare out of the airport. The dispatcher is the one controlling this entire matter and it is he who makes sure that there are taxis at the terminal, but not too many and also makes sure that there will be others moving up in line.

Therefore it is rather safe to assume that there will be a few of the larger taxis on site - but out of sight - so, as we said - you should not have a problem requesting a larger vehicle that will accommodate all of you at once.

Yes, though they may not readily be available at certain (very busy or off peak) times, which was my original point.

We've had multiple instances where we arrived and looked for a larger vehicle and there was zero availability (holding area not withstanding) or the dispatcher said one would arrive but it would take a long time.

Again, regular taxis are much more plentiful than specialty vehicles if you have an issue finding a large size vehicle.
