We are thrilled that we will be in Israel on April 26. Is there a particular place where the celebrations will be extraordinary?
Each city and town has its own special atmoshphere. On the evening of the 25th there are performances given on public stages for free, fair boths, street performances, food and more - including crowds. During the day many military instillations are open to the public. The national tradition of this holiday is to have a BBQ (al ha-esh or mangel in Hebtew) in the park which fill up very quickly - some as early as 10 a.m.
Each city will release its schedule of shows and activities about a week before the holiday so I suggest that you post your question again around the middle of April.
Jerusalem is special all year round and more so on Independence Day. There are several official ceremonies that you might like to attend. Details later on as mbgg said. Tickets are distributed by the Ministry of Tourism.
