Sri Lanka and Maldives in 2.5 weeks

I'm thinking of doing 8-9 days near Colombo then 8 days in the Maldives as the connection is so easy but have other people done this? Is it enough time for a taste of each place?

In Sri Lanka, the best places to see are away from Colombo, so do a road trip in those 8 - 9 days.

Maldives; not much to do once you get to your island. Good for R & R.

Yes and if you do, try a combined air ticket. Individual return ticket Colombo-Male is USD 200-250 which is quite overpriced for the short flight.

All the best,

We will also be doing this. We fly with Emirates and the stopover in Malé wasn't that expensive to add to our ticket.

Since I want to use local ferries and go to local islands in the Maldives we will go there first so the flights and ferries will follow each other and we don't spend nights waiting for the ferry. The ferries don't go on Friday, but if you have the money for a speedboat or go to a resort you won't have this problem.
