Armenia at Easter

I am planning a trip to Armenia between ca 21 April and 27 April. Is Armenia celebrating Easter then? If so, how will it affect opening times? During those dates, is there any holiday affecting sigthseeing?

Our plans include Khor Virap, Garhi, Geghard, Lake Sevan area, Echmiadzin etc. Will these and others like these be closed for tourists?

Easter in 2012 is April 8... I would like to reiterate @kauris' questions: will major attractions be closed on Easter Sunday? Are there any special events going on? Thanks

Well between april 21 and 27 I would recommend going to the Armenian Genocide Memorial on April 24. Huge gathering over a million people go to pay their respects and many events going on. Many stores do close for this event. However, a lot of stuff goes on that day on the streets a huge event not to be missed.

Hi there If you want to see loads of sites then stay at the Envoy hostel. Its in a great location just off the main street and they run tours to different parts of Armenia every day. The tours were amazing and it always included lunch in an ethnic family home. The guide - we always had marina was great and there is nearly always a lot of people on the tours making for a very sociable day. The hostel is also a great place to meet people and they have privates up to 8 bed dorms at reasonable prices including a free breakfast. I am sure you will find traveling at easter no problem.

have a great trip
