Hanoi Night Market

Hello everyone,

Too many sad and unpleasant stories about Hanoi's night market have been posted on Trip Advisor. Let's try and fix this!

If you are planning to go to the night market please:

- take only the cash that you will be using in your pocket or money belt (1 million VND - $50 USD - is more than enough, 500,000 VND would probably be sufficient);

- do not take a bag, purse, nap sack, or any of the sort;

- do not take your passport, wallet, travel docs, etc with you;

- and, if you are going to take your camera, use the strap around your neck or around your wrist and hold it in your hand;

The night market is a great place to engulf yourself in Vietnamese culture. Lots of foot to try, lots of things to buy, lots of things to look at. But, it is busy, really busy, so please take proper precautions against pick-pocketers, and bag-slashers. You will have nothing to be concerned about, and nothing to have stolen, if you only have a few VND in your pocket.

Wishing you the safest and happiest of travels!

Sunny regards,
