MBK to Chinatown by skytrain

Staying at Pathuwan Princess and would like to go to Chinatown at night for a meal and look at the sights. How can we get there by public transport, also how to get to pier to catch ferry to Nonthaburi?

The skytrain ends at National Stadium right by MBK. Best way to Chinatown is by taxi.

To get the river bus to Nonthaburi, take the skytrain to Saphan Taksin station (take the train in the direction of Wongwienyai), then go down to the Sathorn pier under the station. Do NOT buy a 150 baht ticket at the pier. Catch the Chao Phrya Express boat coming from your left. Pay the conductor on board (about 20 baht each person) and tell her "Nonthaburi" (Non-Ta-Buree). It takes about an hour.

Hi,

Tricky at night, in the day time you can take the Silom line to Saphan Taksin from National Stadium/MBK, take the escalator down to central pier and take an orange flag boat to Memorial bridge for the flower market or Ratchawong for central chinatown. At night a taxi is the best way as the boats stop around 18.30

cheers

Its hardly worth taking the boat to Chinatown, as its not that far from MBK by taxi. Travelling time would be about the same.

You are of course absolutely right, it's just that the op asked about public transport, we posted at the same time, if I'd seen your response I wouldn't have posted as, as usual, your advice is spot on

best wishes

Thanks Dragonc & Paulo, will take a taxi to Chinatown. We will be doing the Nonthaburi trip during the day so we have time to look around there. Your recent posts on Nonthaburi have caught our interest. Are the wet markets there open on the weekend and till what time?
