We have also done the Wan Fah Dinner Cruise a couple of times, highly recommend it, plenty of good food, entertainment, nice boat, we really enjoyed it.

Heres a link to some photos and info on the cruise

I have the same question as I will be in Bangkok in March 2009.

I do not eat seafood, I only eat westernized asian food or just western food so would like to know which buffet is the best.

Also are all these 3 boats airconditioned and which is the newest and nicest.

Can anyone help as I would love to do a dinner cruise when I am there.

They are very different and it depends on what you are looking for.

CP Princess & Grand Pearl are big river cruisers that have pretty plain buffet food. They have live western music and quite a party atmosphere develops as the evening goes on. If that is what you are looking for I would suggest making sure you get an upstairs table, best is on the side of the boat. The open air atmosphere on a nice evening is great.

Manohra, Loy Nava, Wan Fah are smaller more personal boats. Converted wooden traditional barges, the food is Thai, served at table and better quality. A slower gentler experince with a Thai musician and some Thai dancing.

Personally we prefered the second option, but it is whatever makes your clock tick! Enjoy!

Thanks Mark.

Just one other thing, were any of the boats airconditioned?

I dont recall any of them being airconditioned. I have been on 3 including Grand Pearl and its not so bad as you get a gentle breeze sitting outside.

We had dinner cruise at Yok Yor. Nothing fancy but really cheap food. Boat fee is only 160 Baht and a la carte dishes good for 2-3 starts at 100 Baht.

You can see pictures here.

How long roughly do these cruises go for. Also is it a good way to see the sights at night or is it too dark.

Hi. My mother & I did the Chao Phraya Princess cruise last September. Truly awesome. The food was divine & catered 2 every1. I'll eat anything but my mother only eats westernised food, we were both very happy with the choices available.

The crew were fantastic & the band great. After the meal the young staff get 2 relax & go around asking every1 2 dance.

A truly enjoyable night & i'll be doing it again this year when i return.

Have a great trip
