Closest beach destination to Bangkok...

I would like to get some feedback where the best beach destination is that is closest to Bangkok. Since we dont have enough time to make it South, we would like to take in some sunshine during our stay.

Any suggestions will be quite welcomed!! Thanks!

Pattaya is the closest, about 2 hours on a bus so you could even go for the day if you wanted to.

Jomtien beach next door is a lot quieter and North Pattaya is quieter than south pattaya.

If you want lots of night life South Pattaya is the place to be.

Hope that helps

IMHO the best place for a relaxing beach holiday would be Rayong or Koh Samet. But you are inclined for the wilder sort of R&R and nice sand and water are not a priority, then Pattaya is the place for you.

Keep in mind, there was a man who when to Pattaya for the holiday. When he returned home, his friends asked him if the liked the beach in Pattaya. He replied, "They have a beach?"

P{attaya is the nearest ( Bang saen is closer but that probably would not suit you ). Cha Am about 2 hrs 15, Hua hin about 2 hrs 30 / 3 hrs depending if taxi or bus.

Pattaya is you want something lively, Hua Hin if you want quieter. We enjoy both for different reasons. if you want entertainment and lots of shopping Pattaya is better, if you want relaxation on the beach though with enough restaurrants and some bars etc the Hua Hin.
