You’re right. That question is asked often but it’s a sensible thing to ask about if you’ve never been to Thailand before.

Yes, ice in drinks is perfectly safe and is made from treated water. The only time it could be a problem would be if you were in a remote place and a chunk of ice was hacked off a block made with river water.

Yes you are correct it is a question that gets asked quite a lot but don't worry about it. The short answer is that yes ice is fine in Thailand it is made in factories alongside the bottled water that everyone drinks and delivered in sealed plastic bags to the bars.
