4-6 day trip involving trekking

Hello - I am considering visiting Nepal between Nov 25th and Dec 6th. I am interested in doing a short trip to Nepal for about 4-6 days (if possible). Many of the tour groups offer much longer trips than this. Has anyone found a shorter trek that's possible? I am a solo female traveler in late 20s - thanks.

Hi nickay

This article has some ideas for a short trip to Nepal that can be tailored to your interests:

If you are in Nepal for 4 - 6 days then trekking options are limited but if you are in Nepal for the dates you mentioned and would like to trek for 4 - 6 days then options open up. For the longer period then the most popular option is a trek around Poon Hill which can take anything from 3 to 7 days depending on the route and pace of trekking. This article has a suggested itinerary:

If you want a trek that starts and finishes at KTM rather than KTM then there are options around the valley rim. The most popular section starts at Sundarijal (a short ride from central KTM) with the first night at Chisapani. the second at Nagarkot, the third at Dhulikhel (N & D are popular Himalayan view points)with options beyond there to Namobuddha (monastery and stupa), Balthali and Panauti Hindu temple town). This website has more details:

If you only have the shorter time in Nepal then the valley route has shorter options (eg Chisapani to Nagarkot to Bhaktapur) and from Pokhara you could start at Khande and trek to Pothana (overnight) via Australian camp then return to the main road via Dhampus to Phedi. Then there is the lesspopular/more authentic Panchase trek which can be done with one overnight.

I think you can travel around Kathmandu valley and do a trek near Kathmandu ie; Chisapani Naagarkot Trek or Balthali Village Trek. Both are short treks near Kathmandu valley, quite easy and accessible as well.

You can split 2 days for sightseeing around the town and the remaining 3/4 days for a short trekking.

A itinerary something like this would be a good idea for you:

Day 1 - Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley

Day 2 - Second day of sightseeing around the valley

Day 3 - Drive to Sundarijal, trek to Chisapani

Day 4 - Trek to Nagarkot village, witness sunset from the top of the hill

Day 5 - Trek to Dhulikhel, explore around the small town

Day 6 - Drive back to Kathmandu, shopping, explore local markets etc.

Good Luck!
