Kathmandu Valley and Chitwan National Park

My boyfriend and I are going to Nepal via Kathmandu for 7 days 6 nights at the beginning of September 2010 and wanted to know the best itinerary to spend in Nepal and visit Chitwan as well. Also, are there any tour companies that do customized tours or tours that cover these specifics?

Thanks!!

seven days is a bit less to enjoy this country... but this is what I would recommend

Spend at least two nights in Kathmandu, and fit in a city tour. You want to see the melting pot of Kathmandu and enjoy the world heritage sites, boudha, pashupatinath and syoyambhunath in particular... Bhaktapur if you still have time.

Do the Chepang Hill Trail. Could send you a link to a full itinerary, but it might be inappropriate, so PM me if you need it! This is a two and half day trek down to the Chiltwan National Park from Kathmandu, including homestays through not very touristy areas.

Then top that with a two night three day package at Chitwan, which rounds off the seven days wonderfully.

If the days are clear, you could also do a mountain flight in the morning off Kathmandu!

See you in the mountains!

You don't have tons of time but it certainly is enough. The problem with most tour companies is that you have to work with their schedule. This is not a problem for people who have 3 weeks to burn, but its a problem for you. The company to go with is Good Karma Trekking. It run by a very competent local named Raj who speak English very well. He has some template of tours but each on is custom made for the party that is trekking. (see below an example) He website is: http://www.nepalfctrekking.com/

You could probably email him from here and he could help you design the trip before you get there and he would be your personal guide. (for a better price than the other companies)

Remi

Day 1 : Arrive at Kathmandu, transfer to hotel and sightseeing of

Kathmandu city.

Day 2 Fly to pokhara., Full day Pokhara sightseeing trip to

Bindhabasani temple, Tal Barahi, Mahadev cave, Devi’s fall boating on

Phewa Lake.

Day 3 : Early morning Drive for chitwan

.

Day 4 : Chitwan

Day 5 Chitwan and fly evening to kathmandu

Day 6 Whole day kathmandu tour

Day 7 Leisure day at kathmandu
