Just wanted to put a post on here recommending an Indian based travel company for anyone thinking of a trip to this amazing country. They are Legends & Palaces at http://www.legendsandpalaces.com and are run by an incredible man called V.P. Singh.

My wife and I had a wonderful trip in April 2012 with them. We went on the Foothills & Corbett tour with a few slight adjustments. From the moment that I first emailed Mr. Singh to the moment that we eventually left India everything about this company was first class. Mr. Singh could not have been more helpful in organising our trip and tailor made it to suit us perfectly.

He was in constant contact with us despite sometimes being on tour himself. The instructions that he sent out prior to our trip were superb and on arrival everything went exactly according to plan leaving us completely stress free. Mr. Singh remained in contact with us throughout our trip to make sure everything was OK and on the one day that we needed to change our travel arrangements due to a slight tummy upset all it took was one phone call and eveything was sorted.

The hotels that Mr. Singh selected were completely varied and, without exception, outstanding. The guides were generally all very knowledgable, fun & friendly and despite our driver having very limited English we wouldn't have swapped him for the world.

In Shimla we met the man himself (he spent a whole day travelling just to meet us!) and he even bought us dinner! India proved to be an amazing country and L&P an amazing company run by an amazing man at amazing prices! I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

Just started working with Mr. Singh - so far, so good. Very prompt in responding to queries for more info on where to go and what to do. Also very reasonable in terms of pricing. I had originally started out thinking that Abercrombie & Kent was the way to go as I have used them before (they are great) but have gradually warmed up to using a company based in India and am now convinced that I will have a better holiday as a result. My biggest concern is the quality of the tour guides - not only their ability to speak fluent English, but also things like the condition of the vehicles. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Finally, I would like to hear more from people who have recently returned from a trip with L&P who may have had experience with A&K as well. I basically don't want to have to worry about a thing from the moment I step off the plane in Mumbai to the moment I head back to the US from Delhi. I want somebody looking out after my every need. Will I get that with L&P? The L&P sales pitch is great but does it live up to it's billing when you're in country?

I was just browsing Trip Advisor and found this topic. I would just like to endorse the positive comments made here.

My friend & I booked our holiday through Legends & Palaces when we travelled through Northern India in April 2009. We had been to India before using a UK based TA but wanted to see more of the 'real' India rather than the major sites favoured by the bigger tour operators.

We did have a rough idea of where we wanted to visit but the suggestions made by VP Singh mean't that we travelled to areas which are rarely visited by tourists. Our trip was based on seeing the Indian wildlife but Mr Singh managed to intersperse our journey from one area to another with stops that totally immersed us in Indian culture.

It was Mr Singh's attention to detail & his network of driver's & guides which made the difference to our holiday and we would not hesitate to book another holiday using Legends & Palaces.

How was your trip? We are in the process of planning for DEC 2014 with the same company. Any suggestions? Would you have done anything differently?

Thanks!

We just got home from 2 weeks in India. Our trip was planned to perfection by Mr. VP Singh of Legends and Palaces. I had initially contacted him about traveling in Dec. of 2013 but we were rather late and Mr. Singh suggested more advance planning. This time we started planning in May for Dec of 2014. We traveled with our daughter (17) and son (15). Mr. Singh was incredibly professional and responsive - within less than 24 hours. We asked for a number of specific experiences which he was able to build in to our trip. All guides were excellent and the hotels were superb. It was a finely tuned itinerary with many fun adventures.

Mr. Singh met us at our hotel in Delhi. It was lovely to meet him in person. He is quite a gentleman. He followed up during our trip to make sure we were happy as well. I would not hesitate to recommend Legends and Palaces if you want an incredible trip to India with no hassles! We will definitely use him again.

I am working with Mr Singh now -- comparing his tour to those offered by some of the most highly rated companies out there -- A & K, Travcoa, AsiaTranspacific etc. I am impressed with his responsiveness. I have not made a final decision as I am still waiting for a few more proposals but Legends and Palaces is definitely in the running.

I will join the chorus of accolades for Legends and Palaces. Mr. Singh put together at trip of 27 days in 10 wonderful hotels with 8 knowledgeable guides, two rail journeys, one domestic flight and a skilled, patient driver for the duration. Everything meshed like clock work and plenty of time was allowed for all journeys. All of the hotels were outstanding, the sights were breath taking, the food superb, and the service made us feel like long-lost relatives welcome at every stop. We made all arrangements via email several months in advance. It was good to be working with someone in India since we needed to revise our itinerary because a large wedding in Udaipur booked all the good hotels for our original dates. Mr. Singh met us in Kalka on our way to Shimla and checked in with us several times during the trip. His service was liking having a friend in India whom we could call whenever a question arose.

So just got back from our second trip to India, once again booked through Legends & Palaces run by the legendary VP Singh. Once again I have to say everything about the trip was absolutely first class, from the initial email consultation with Mr Singh, through the little tweaks and changes and finally the trip itself. The professionalism, efficiency and organisation of Mr Singh & his team is truly outstanding. From the moment you set foot on Indian soil you know that everything will run smoothly and you will be completely at ease. Whether it's catching an internal flight, a train, arranging to meet a guide there is always someone there to help you at exactly the right time and place. It works like magic! Our driver for the 2 week trip was fantastic and spoke superb English. He was always willing to go the extra mile and took us on numerous extra little excursions (his suggestions, our choice whether we went along) that were a big highlight of the trip because it meant we weren't just driving from A-B, we were getting an insight to things like village life on the way. Almost without fail the accommodations that Mr Singh chose for us were way above expectations. I will write separate reviews for those but particular highlights were Orange County, Kabini and Philip Kutty's Farm in Kumarakum. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

Used this travel agent for our Golden Triangle trip. Mr. Singh organized everything based on our requirements and requests. we had some excellent guides and some that were just mediocre if not boring. but the organization from start to finish was great! our driver from day 1 to our last day was the same. if using this agency, make sure you research well in advance where you want to shop and where you would like to eat instead of relying with the tour guides or the driver. they will force you to shop in tourist places even if you are firm. believe me when i say that Indians are gifted in being persuasive, already bordering aggressive.

Our only complaint would be the exorbitant prices that we were charged in midway cafeterias along the road where our driver would take us for lunch. they charge higher than the Oberoi hotels for lunch which was quite frustrating given that they were also not hygienic. overall though, the experience was still great and using a travel agent is really much more hassle-free in terms of coordination and logistics. i would maybe book the car service next time, and book our own guides separately per area. that way, i am sure that we are getting the best guides base on recommendations in tripadvisor.

Thank you so much for your Trip report.

It was a pleasure having yourselves with Legends & Palaces, on your recent tour of the Golden Triangle.

I am happy to note that we did come up to your expectations to a large extant. Indeed your forthright comments would help us improving our services in those areas which require tightening the nuts and bolts.

I have already congratulated the Driver Feroz & the local Guides in both Delhi and Jaipur. The Agra Guide will be, surely, removed from our list, for not putting his best foot forward. After all he was our ambassador in that city! I sincerely & personally apologize for his misconduct.

We strongly recommend against eating at the midway transit hotels, as hygiene is suspect in our eyes. This negative recommendation is given in red colour on the General Trip Info, mailed a few days before arrival of all our valued customers, including yourselves.

As for shopping of handicrafts, we do recommend a couple of outlets in Delhi & Jaipur, for purchase of such products. And we take full responsibility of Genuineness / Quality of such purchases.

We look forward to having yourselves again with us and I assure it has to be extra-special!

Warm regards,

VP Singh
