Hi, I've given the prices in AC 3 Tier, a comfortable class for long journeys.

Here's the cheapest and fastest option leaves from Lokmanyatilak.

2201 KCVL GARIB RATH LTT 16.55 ERN 18.30 travel time 25.35hrs

Runs Monday and Friday Only

Costs

AC 3 Tier Rs 693

Another slower but daily train, would be

6345 NETRAVATI EXP P LTT 11.40 ERS 14.50 travel time 27.10hrs

Runs Daily

Costs AC 3 Tier Rs 1189

You can book online at the following.

irctc.co.in/cgi-bin/…

Goa is enroute. Instead of a really long rail trip to Kerala, it might be nicer to break at Goa for a few days, many of the Kerala trains stop at Madgaon (train station for Goa).

Usually I suggest to people that they fly Mumbai-Cochin.

The train will take about 24 hours and that is the fastest train.

Costs about 700Rps

Now it won't be cold in November, far from it.

You suggest taking a train or a fly? Is this new train comfortable?

I find them comofrtable enough but then I've got about a 100,000 Kilometers of India train travel under my belt.

The problem for newbies is trying to get e decent sleep as the train bounces along, I reccommend melatonin to catch a good nights sleep.

Cleanliness is patchy but generally ok in the AC classes.

It's certainly a experience and if you approach it in the right way it can be a great way to get around.

And provide you with great stories and memories.

Flying is always better I suppose but it's such a boring and sterile way to get around, you miss so much travelling this way..

Thanks! I agree flying is boring. Let me visit your website first. I tried to check the train schedule however it was way too complicated and not very user friendly. Lets try yours now ;)
