Gorilla Treks

Has anyone used Guerba Travel to book a gorilla safari? If so, were you satisfied?

Guerba are an overland truck tour company I believe. Fine if this is what you require but you won't be staying at Gorilla Forest Camp with them!

This is what I lifted from their Website, www.guerba.co.uk . they are well run but their main clientelle appear to be the overland truck market. I could be wrong but this is what I have seen in the Bush.

"Africa is the best place for a safari adventure holiday. For over 25 years Guerba have been the acknowledged leaders in African overland and safari travel. Our tours vary from 4 days to 8 weeks including fantastic game viewing in the National Parks of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. You can experience some of Africa's most amazing sights including the Ngorongoro Crater, the Okavango Delta, the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve and Victoria Falls. Our great range of overland adventures in Africa include both camping safaris and lodge based adventures so you can enjoy the sand dunes of Namibia, The pyramids of Egypt or the Libyan Desert. We also have one of the best Kilimanjaro programs available, including the Machame, Rongai and Marangu routes. These trips offer a chance to see countries while getting a feel for the people, culture and environment of the places you visit. All kinds of people come along, but all share a sense of fun, adventure and love of the outdoors. Click on the list above to start searching for your Intrepid Guerba trip."

they are definitely an overland company, probably not the best for something as specialised as a Gorilla Trek.

Depends how long you want. A friend of mine did a short 3 day trip that she booked on www.viator.com

If you are after a short trip, she recommended it highly.

These are my thoughts too. You may be sharing with quite a large group on the truck who would have to split up for the actual Gorilla trip.

Permits cost $350 anyway I would not risk the experience by "roughing it!" It can be done comfortably in modest lodges where you can bathe and dry your clothes..

I used another co. www.birdinginparadise.com (not only birdwatching) and was very happy with it. Very reliable guide.

I don't know anything about Guerba, but my daughter and I just returned from a 14 day trip to Uganda, and I can't say enough about Churchill Safaris. They did an excellent job planning our custom itinerary, which included two days of gorilla trekking in Bwindi, where we stayed at the Gorilla Forest Camp- awesome!

Should you book with Churchill, request James as your driver/guide. He made a wonderful experience even better.
