Catamaran

Hello. Please can anyone advise on a good company to book a catamaran cruise. We have been quoted £50 per person in the UK. Can we get it much cheaper booking locally in Mauritius? Thanks

From memory that was the price we were quoted by the beach sellers. However, you'd be able to negotiate somewhat with them but not here in the UK.

Hi

We went with Croisieres Evasion booked through the boathouse at our hotel, (The Sands) last year. The price was £35 per person and was an excellent day out. Dolphin watching, snorkelling/swimming off the boat, lunch and all drinks included, rounded off with a visit to an uninhabited island.

The price included return transfers to the jetty at Black River on the West Coast approx 1/2hr away - obviously if you are staying further away then price would be a little more.

Best wishes

Mazza :)

Hi

Sorry but I have to differ from travelcouple - my experience is not like theirs at all. In all the years we have been going to Mauritius we have booked everything when we've arrived and had no problem whatsoever. Either through a travel company or through the hotel, no difference in availability. In the present economic climate it is extremely unlikely that you will not be able to go on trips etc that you want to.

I have quoted the price we paid for the catamaran trip last year, in my previous post, which was booked via the boathouse at our hotel and think that was a very good value for money.

Do not be coerced into hastily booking trips etc. before you go and then finding when you get there that it would have been much cheaper, also in my experience it is easier and better to arrange these things "on the spot", it's a holiday after all, go with the flow.

Relax and enjoy the holiday, take it as it comes and you will get to see and do everything you want to.

Best wishes

Agree with Mazza. Book when you get there.

To get an idea of excursions is general for prices look at the two operators who the main tour operators use:

www.mauritours.net

www.whitesandtours.com

Many hotels have underoccupancy given the recession so the local operators will probably be competing for your business.
