Choosing between hotels for early Jan

Hi

Has anyone got any thoughts about the following hotels, staying at the beginning of Jan for a couple of weeks?

Ambre resort and spa

Tui sensimar lagoon

Emeraude Beach Attitude

Riu Le Morne

I like eating, drinking and relaxing, but some options for yoga/ fitness stuff would be a nice extra. And a location walkable to other stuff (bars, restaurants, sights) could also be nice.

Thanks!

TUI Sensimar is likely to be my choice.

All of the hotels are isolated though. Not really walkable anywhere apart from other hotels.

If you want to be somewhere livelier look to stay in or around Grand Baie in the north west of the island or Flic en Flac in the west.

Thanks. I read that Sensimar isn't a very nice beach which has put me off. Is that right?

Ambres beach was damaged in this years cyclones, not sure they managed to repair the erosion yet. It also needs a refurb.

Rius beach is in a windy position which is why they have windsurfing.

Emeraude uses the public beach across a busy road.

Sesimar beach isnt that great.

None are within walking distance to anywhere.

Gary's video of Sensimar could be helpful:

Thanks, I'd looked at the video and the beach looked small but OK, but then someone on this forum said it was grit rather than sand which put me off a lot.

Hmmm, none of them sound great then! Might go somewhere other than Mauritius.

Thanks for your responses!

Why limit yourself to just those hotels? There are plenty of lovely places to choose from.

Your previous thread in 2017 you listed more hotels and also several tour operator

https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g293…

Mercury for instance has quite a number of 3* hotels.

Incidentally January is not a good time to visit, being very hot, very humid, rainy and you it can be cyclonic.

I havnet seen the TUI hotel so cant comment

i only know that belle mare is very nice beach, but not sure where this hotel located

Riu i saw, altough i am in love with le morne beach, Riu hotel located im area for kite surfing..beach not that nice..st reggis beach near the hotel is nice, but as i said , Riu hotels beach was avarage

There are two Riu hotels, one of them was loud with cheap Dance music crowded and felt like teen agers hotel in greece ..

We stayed at Riu Le Morne and Creolle in August 2017 and had a very enjoyable stay.Le Morne is better than Creolle which is adjacent. You can use both hotels faccilities. The food is pretty boring except the restaurant you make a booking at.I prefer Club Med.
