West or east coast areas ?

I'm visiting in November and wondering whether to stay at Horisun at Shanti Nagar, Belle Mare (east coast) or Villa Anakao at Pointe aux Sables (west coast). Villa Anakao is near Port Louis so I think we might be able to get a bus into the city quite easily. What do people do in Belle Mare?

If you are in Belle Mare you tend to be beach or hotel based.

Although there are excursion companies available and taxi drivers can be hired for tours.

Pointe aux Sables is not really a tourist area and has a bit of a reputation. Not a place I would stay, sorry although the villa looks fine:

Horisun looks quite basic but does have consistently positive reviews. Belle Mare has the better beach.

Not sure if it still is but it used to be well known for its ladies of the night.

Belle mare is bit remote area but great long beach , really liked it ..also you can visit blue bay that is in south east coast and nice mountain range near.

would prefer it than the whole west coast beside le morne, which is nicest part of the island by my opinion

i havent found the west coast flic and flac (sugar beach great)as nice as belle mare and le morne

not sure about north west part ,north to port louis (beside trou aux biches very nice ) but heard it not so great..

good luck

We are going this weekend and considering between flic n flac, Grand Baie, Trou Aux Biches or the east coast. What’s recommended. We are a family of 4.

Do you mean for accommodation, sups1982? Surely you should have booked that already.

No we haven’t. We are so very late. Only decided yesterday. We are travelling from London. Awaiting few replies but have a hold in sugar Beach and still confused about the east Coast. We want to enjoy resort for 2-3 days and do sightseeing for 3/4 days.

Just make sure that your accommodation is confirmed before you arrive in Mauritius or you won't be granted a visa. Your question on where to stay has been covered in your other thread so won't repeat the info here.
