January is one of the best times to go little humidity no rain and lots of hot sunshine There is only 1 AI option in Gambia and its remote and very expensive for everything else Just go B&B there are dozens of excellent places to eat most much cheaper than hotels who tend to price near UK prices I wont go into price details since you will find them top right of our home page "Top questions for Gambia" If you are sensible you will be safer in TG than at home in Ledstone rgds

With respect to Irishadrian, January is in the middle of the tourist season and the weather SHOULD be perfect, BUT over the last few years there have been several days if not weeks of cloud and a little light drizzle in January. Still a lovely time to visit though.

The weather should be good although there have been times when it is cloudy and even sometimes drizzle, but this is not like english drizzle!! The temperature will still be way better than England in January lets face it. The weather can be unpredictable wherever you go but will more than likely be lovely and warm and sunny.

There are lots of lovely restaurants and bars to go to in Kololi area and it is safe to go out and about as long as you use common sense. Use the green tourist taxis if you want to go away from your resort, haggle the price before you get in. Same rules apply for safety wherever you go in the world.

If you don't want to chat or to buy just say a simple no thankyou that is all that is needed. Don't accept any friendship gifts - you will be expected to give back! Have a great time.

You will have a fantastic time in The Gambia, good choice of holiday location! The people are friendliest that I have ever met. My boyfiend proposed to me on Kartong beach (beautiful golden sand, not another person in sight) in April this year and the locals were so happy for us! One guy got some matching African clothing made up for us as a gift - he did not want anything back in return...

Have a great holiday!

Take a leaf out of the England team book while your over and visit a school or two...

The England team went to visit an orphanage in South Africa this morning,

"Its so good to put a smile on the faces of people with no hope, constantly struggling, and facing the impossible" said Jamal Omboto, aged 6.
